I'm a graphic designer specializing in marketing, development, medicine, and entertainment. I've worked on everything from health system branding and development to entertainment key art campaigns. I've worked with enthusiastic leaders, talented designers, and appreciative clients. Below are just a few samples of my work. Enjoy!
Creating Duke University Medical Center patient education brochures and development fundraising pieces, led to designing development pieces for Duke University Schools. I have also designed and produced patient education brochures, development collateral, and magazines for the University of Miami Health System and Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Every logo is a puzzle or a word game. Schools, businesses, events, TV shows and programs. You name it, I've figured it out at some point.

Once upon a time, Duke University Health System was a neverending mass of inherited and created logos and pieces and brands. Duke Creative Services was given the challenge of reining it all in and creating a cohesive, friendly, sophisticated look and feel. I worked with an amazing team of designers and marketing leaders to achieve this goal. Shown are a few thumbnails using this new system. A few years later, I worked with RHA Howell, a non profit organization helping children and adults with disabilities. They were faced with a similar challenge--Centers, Houses, and Programs all needed to be simplified with unifying brand elements. I was able to create a look and feel for their brochures that was colorful and flexible.
Transformation was the key message for the new Duke Medicine look and feel. Bud Northern, Senior designer of The Duke Creative Services team, created the above sample brochure covers to illustrate that theme.
Adapting for web use is part of the challenge. A development campaign will need banners or web ads. I designed a campaign for a Compliance Program for the University of Miami Health System, and in turn, developed a series of screensavers for employee computer screens

I've worked on political campaign posters, independent movies, video releases, calendars, documentary pitches, even designed alternative prom posters for LGBT high schoolers. All challenging, and always fun.

While at Columbia TriStar, MGM, and Media Home Entertainment, I created packaging targeted to home video retailers. I've designed promotional folders and jackets for the Wizard of Oz's 50th anniversary. I've designed and overseen the production of table top and floor unit packaging displays, as well as stand-alone promotional items. Years later, I saw the Arnold Schwarzenegger display in Puerto Rico in a market doorway with red chili peppers draped around his neck. These sales tools have a million and one uses.

While at Columbia TriStar, MGM, and Media Home Entertainment, I created packaging targeted to home video retailers. I had a soft spot for the nostalgia market and horror films. Go figure. On a freelance basis, I developed PBS documentary TV titles and adapted them for the home video market. Shown is an example of work done for a documentary on famous NC architects. It started with a storyboard for the film titles and then became a video cover.
For a little variety, I've designed a few memoir books and a cookbook.
I've worked on a little bit of everything-- from chicken soup recipes to Nightmarish Freddy Krueger. Soup to nuts. Both equally challenging and fun.
Lucky Lounge was a private residence that hosted fun parties that needed new themes for each invitation. Shown are just a few. From Media Home Entertainment, to MGM, to Columbia TriStar, I designed packaging, sell sheets, posters, ads, and P.O.P. I'm just showing a few samples here. A handful of slides for Woody Allen's "Husbands and Wives" was all there was to work with for an ad series. I played the film a few times, wrote down the dialogue, and I had 3 comedy scenes to work with.

At Duke Medical Center I worked on a variety of ongoing patient education magazines and newsletters. I am currently designing a quarterly development magazine for Onslow Memorial Hospital. I've been designing UNC's Center for Behaviorial Health annual report for several years.
